Mike with schoolchildren from Haveley Hey
What a couple of weeks it’s been! As the summer recess starts it will give me the opportunity to do the thing I find most rewarding about being your MP – meeting constituents.
I was delighted that the staff and children of Haveley Hey made a trip down this week (see the photos) I had set some time aside to take them on a tour of the house and out on the terrace too! I hope they enjoyed themselves – I certainly did.
I intend to spend the next few weeks out and about in the constituency, it really does seem to be booming at the moment. We have an exciting plan to regenerate the town centre, Newall Green reopening is great news, I’ve met with loads of local groups who are really working hard to make our community better. We recently hosted a fantastic festival in the Park and attended GRUB Carnival At Wythenshawe – The Travelling Food Festival! here on Civic.
For those who are worried about how to feed the kids and keep them entertained over the summer holidays, there is a massive programme of things to do for all the family in and around the Hollyhedge, Painswick and Wythenshawe Parks.
There is, as always, lots of support and help available in our community for those who are worried about the additional food costs that rack up when kids are at home ( and eating like a plague of locusts!) If you are worried about this, don’t hesitate to contact the office and we can signpost you to community help (0161 499 7900 or [email protected])
Over the summer I plan to carry on working on my community greening projects and visiting some of our fab green spaces too. Let’s hope we get the weather (but not too much ‘weather’ this week was definitely ‘too much weather’!) Have a great summer and I hope to see many of you over the next few weeks.
