Ed Miliband MP, Leader of the Labour Party, today joined Mike Kane, Labour’s candidate, to meet supporters and members of the public in Wythenshawe and campaign for a Labour victory on February 13.
Ed Miliband addressed 300 people at the Wythenshawe Forum and pledged that a Labour government would repeal the bedroom tax, extend free childcare and defend the NHS.
Mike Kane, Labour’s candidate for Wythenshawe and Sale East, said:
“I'm delighted Ed Miliband was able to meet local people and pledge his support for my campaign to get a fair deal for Wythenshawe A&E. People across Wythenshawe and Sale demonstrated their concerns about the cost of living, the NHS and the bedroom tax.
"Ed Miliband has looked the people of WSE in the eye and promised them that Labour will scrap the bedroom tax, freeze energy bills and fight for a fair deal for Wythenshawe A&E, and I'm delighted that I was there when he did it."
Ed Miliband MP said:
“Today I’ve been in Wythenshawe campaigning with our inspirational by-election candidate, Mike Kane.
“People in the constituency said to me that Mike was right to ask questions about the future of their local A&E, what can be done about energy bills that only go up and childcare costs that are spiralling.
“A Labour Government is what this country needs.
“Let’s send a message to David Cameron’s out-of-touch Government that Wythenshawe deserves a fair deal.
“Our opponents are trying every trick in the book to distract voters away from the issues that really matter. That’s why we need to support Mike Kane and ensure we get the result that voters in Wythenshawe need.”
