You might be aware Sale Sharks Rugby Club want to move back to their home town of Sale and are currently running a consultation around their vision of creating a community sports village.
I support Sale Sharks returning to their hometown, it will be great for the area. That said we must ensure that the grassroots sports clubs who currently use Crossford Bridge are not ignored.
I assure you that I will continue to work with local residents, community groups and sports clubs that use the playing fields to ensure their voices are heard during the consultation process.
My understanding of this consultation is that it’s a pre-consultation for the community to feed into. Any plan which emerges will be drawn up based upon this feedback and will then be re-consulted upon. No deal has been signed, no plans have been submitted. If you have not already done so I would urge you to raise any concerns you have via the consultation. You can find more detail here: https://www.crossfordbridge.co.uk/
To clarify, I support Sale Sharks returning to their hometown, but only if and when a suitable site can be found.
Any future plans for Crossford Bridge should have the local community at its heart, we must protect these well used community facilities and you have my word that I will work with you and local councillors to represent your views on this matter.
