1 in 5 families in Wythenshawe & Sale East affected by debt

Mike Kane MP said: “It’s shocking to think that 1 in 5 families in my constituency are affected by debt.  It is vital that we ensure proper support and advice is available for these families.”

“We need better access to fair credit for families who are struggling to make ends meet. We need to make our credit unions more easily accessible and we must continue to fight the usury that is payday lending.”

“The fact is that working people are now on average £1,600 a year worse off since 2010 because wages have lagged behind prices. On top of this, by next year households will be almost £1,000 a year worse off on average because of all tax and benefit changes. The government have pulled the safety net from underneath many families in my constituency.”
